Our President has now declared that before January 2012 all of our troops will come home from Iraq. We will be out of there. Of course this is all decided and done with the run up to Obama’s Presidential campaign. He intends to look like Father Christmas and the Patron Saint to the Military who largely voted against Obama in the previous election cycle and lean conservative. Last election, many in the military didn’t even have their ballots counted in time. It was a national betrayal and scandal that any of our soldier’s ballots weren’t counted who were serving somewhere in active duty. Unbelievable!Obama is losing votes everywhere including his own base. He has to find a way to win back his fractured Democrat base, pull back some Independents and Jewish votes and hopefully buy back the military vote, while looking like the savior. Is it that cut and dried however? Since we got Bin Laden and have been there since 2003 is it just time to take all our toys and go home? After all, we don’t want to be another Viet Nam do we?
Lets talk about this long war in Iraq for a moment
Whether it was the best decision to go to Iraq after the 9/11 attack, we did. Bush said he thought there were weapons of mass destruction in the country. The left and most of the media mocked him as the months and years unfolded. Where were the weapons of mass destruction? Eventually we found chemical weapons, hijack training terrorist centers, and Saddam Hussein’s plans to use nuclear weapons against us. Saddam had long hated America and planned our demise in a variety of ways whether he had verifiable nuclear weapons or not. But did he have them at all?
Was Iraq a real threat or was this oil manipulation as many have screamed all these years? I talked with General George Sada of Iraq who worked as a military General directly for Saddam Hussein for years. He verified, live on my radio show that Saddam had weapons of Mass destruction and intended to use them against America and he had unloaded them to Syria before they could be apprehended.
General Sada also spoke of the danger of Iran, radical Islam that wanted to take over and control Iraq, its wealth and oil. He said the people of Iraq were unbelievably grateful to the U.S. for freeing them from a tyrant and giving them a chance to be free. Of course, you never here about this in the West but it is true. Most there get the sacrifice and understand the end game intention of radical Islam and Iran against Iraq.
This war has gone through many stages but only when our brilliant General Petraeus put forth the Surge did things start to really come our way against the Islamic terrorists we were fighting. We were winning and the country was starting to stabilize.
I realize there are a million reasons we would want our troops back and no presence in Iraq after all these years. No one wants our troops to die but after watching the dramatic movement of the Muslim Brotherhood and other radical Islamic groups swooping in during the manipulated ‘Arab Spring’ it is hardly the time to announce a complete withdrawal of our troops in Iraq. Once this massive exodus happens, there is no reason to believe the Muslim Brotherhood won’t swoop in and try to sabotage and take over as they have in Egypt and other Islamic countries. America is the only stabilizing ray of hope right now for the people of Iraq.
Yes, of course our troops should come home but in a planned, systematic plan that makes sense. Today I talked with Steve Eichler of www.teaparty.org and other military contacts who boldly stated that leaving all at once was a big mistake and would only lead to the assault by Muslim Brotherhood against Iraq. Their military forces are not yet stable enough to protect and secure their freedom. Instead Eichler and my contacts stated that we needed an incremental withdrawal that viewed the country in a grid and establish Iraqi military competency thresholds in various regions. Once 6 months was achieved with relative stability in a region, protected mostly by Iraqi forces, then, U.S. troops could withdraw from that region, then onto the next region and so on. Within 2 years of incremental withdrawals we would be out of there and we would know that the Iraqi troops were now ready to defend their country and freedom against intruders. We should have started this concept and plan several years ago but we didn’t. Now we need to.
In light of the bold and increased slaughter and take over plans of the Muslim Brotherhood especially seen in Arab Spring, Iraq would become a sitting duck ready for take over. We are seeing massive ground lost in Egypt with the slaughter of dozens of Coptic Christians. Is America ready for a total loss and back peddle in favor of radical Islam in Iraq? I say a big fat no!
Obama is looking for votes, not real history, freedom or loyalty to our troops. Since it is obvious the dramatic increase from the Muslim Brotherhood for a Caliphate throughout the world, the only way to conclude our mission in Iraq is with the establishment of incremental thresholds of success for the Iraqi Military, then a pull out region by region.
This long and painful drama in Iraq is hardly Viet Nam. We have a real and growing push by radical Islam, especially as evidenced in the ‘Arab Spring.’ Islam will forcibly take over the world if we sit back and let them.
Finally, there is another huge reason to have some sort of a US military base or presence in Iraq. Not only to help stabilize the volatile region but to protect our best ally in the Middle East, Israel. If we have no presence in Iraq, the only way we could defend Israel in case of a huge attack against them would be from Aircraft carriers. Most Muslim nations in the Middle East, heating up against Israel now wouldn’t allow us fly over privileges and cripple our attack and defense strategies. If we have a force in Iraq, that is entirely a different story, unless of course, you are one of those who would let Israel be destroyed in the face of a huge attack against them by Islamic nations.
Obama is wrong to bring all our troops home by the end of December 2011. That is playing right into the Muslim Brotherhood’s hands and threatening to destroy the gains for freedom in Iraq since 2003.
