What rights do we all have and where do we get them?

We live in a country that celebrates and protects freedom like no country on earth.  Our constitution and Declaration of Independence describes and protects our life and all kinds of freedoms,  from gun rights,  to speech and religious rights. Our founding fathers, the power and inspiration guiding them was the Holy Bible.  90% of them were born again Christians and drew their power and direction from the Lord.  They knew that this nation was a fought for miracle and would grow securely as long as we connected our freedom,  choices and growth with the God of the Holy Bible.

Since the 1700s our culture,  traditions and boundaries have come from the Bible not the Koran or any other Holy book.  Naturally,  the constitution gives us freedom ‘of’ religion.  Some misread and misconstrue what it says to mean ‘freedom from religion.’  When in contextual truth it is simply meaning that congress and the President can’t dictate a specific church denomination to control everything as our first settlers had suffered in England.  They talked of freedom of religion as different expressions of Christianity.  This wasn’t license for every cult,  Islam or Satanism to have equal footing and rise up.  Since the vast majority of them were devout Christians they were simply wanting to secure a freeing style of Christian worship,  picking what church they wanted.

Traditionally our country has skeletally held to the moral fabric of the Holy Bible.  Sin is defined and redemption outlined in its pages for all.  From what I have read and experienced,  we are all hideous sinners with issues we need to get right with God.  These fall in all kinds of areas,  sex out of God’s context is a big one,  pride,  judgment,  murder,  stealing,  adultery, lying,  hate etc…….Humans have big issues and need a BIG God with tons of forgiveness and help.

Thank the heavens that God actually cared enough to send His only son Jesus,  to live on earth as a human,  experience our pain and weakness,  yet demonstrate how to have a relationship with the Father and live in power and love.  We are over comers now.

That means letting go of Satan’s artificial and seductive trap of a plan for our life and letting the real God take over who loves us and can fix us.

This week I spoke at the Oasis event center in Spokane.  It was sponsored by Pastor Mark Hamilton who asked me to speak and sing.  The day before I talked with the Pastor and found out a gay group in Spokane was planning to picket me at the event due to their view of me as anti gay marriage,  thus anti gay in their mind.  They had grabbed a July 20th 2010 article I had written and posted around.  They got it off of www.canadafreepress.com  ‘Amnesty bill to be blurred with Gay marriage and ‘freedom rights.’  I was standing against gay marriage and a manipulated Bill attempt by the Obama administration to trump states rights and make marriage a Federal and Government right and privilege,  not with the States.  One of the many sneaky and controversial things in this bill was that illegal aliens who were married, gay or heterosexual could get married in Mexico,  under Mexican law and be recognized in the US without formalization.   I said that this bill attempt was evil because if it passes illegals and gays will be quickly getting married and trumping our immigration laws and marriage definitions, state by state.

Back to the talk I gave recently

I went out to meet and talk with the gay folks picketing against me and we had a vigorous visit and debate about gay marriage….do they have the right to be married or not?  I shared with them that our country’s traditions,  moral code,  Biblical and Christian foundation defined marriage between a man and a woman and did in every nation on earth.

I understand gay folks are citizens and have rights.  That is why I am for civil unions.  They can celebrate their love relationship now.  They can also entrust their assets and things to a lover,  while developing their career and living well.  This country and most the decent people in it don’t demonize or want to steal basic rights of expression from gays.  We just don’t want them to be considered any more special than anyone else.  Whether they like it can face it or not,  their behavior and lifestyle isn’t the norm,  doesn’t reflect our core values and isn’t mainstream.

Thank God gay people in America don’t experience the horrors of Sharia law as do all Muslim countries where being gay is an offense that leads to execution.  So does adultery,  so does changing your faith.  It is nauseating that Imam and Cleric rulings in various Islamic countries have sentenced many rape victims to 101 lashes…..sharia law again.

I pity any gay person who lives in an Islamic country.   They should thank God for living in a Christian spirited country that will protect freedom,  but freedom reflecting our Biblical roots,  morals and traditions.  This set of core values is actually their protection as they deal with life and sexual issues.

Regardless of where we all fall on gay marriage rights,  thank God we have freedom of speech and we can argue,  debate even scream and yell about the issues and not hate or hurt one another.  I thank God that the gay folks who picketed against me were able to speak their mind and talk with me.  I praise God for that freedom.  They may not believe it but I think we could actually be friends.

Difference is good and challenges are great.  However,  no matter where we fall or what our experiences have taught us,  we must temper our life through the sifter of God’s plan,  the truth,  our constitution and the Holy Bible….the one that actually does tell the truth whether we live it,   like it or not.
